The Magic Mirror
‘Crash!’ a loud thundersnap resonated through the old neighborhood, leaving behind its echo to resonate within their cranny homes. Sitting at the window was a timid but tenacious lad named Tim. He was just 10, petite for his age yet full of vivacious spirit.
With squinted eyes hidden behind thick round glasses, a mop of auburn hair usually tied into an unkempt bun, Tim was a spectacle who was looked at with sympathy. Often caught talking to himself or to the cosmos at times, he appeared odd but this was Tim's unique quirk.
On this rainy afternoon, Tim was on an exploration hunt, ticking off an indoor scavenger game he had just invented. Eventually, his quest led him to a forsaken part of their home—the dusty old attic, a realm of quiet spiders and its weaves, shadows of forgotten belongings, and the damp smell of yester-years.
Amongst the cobwebs and cardboard memories, he spotted a humongous, somewhat skewed mirror, framed with elegant craftsmanship. This heirloom, passed down through many generations, hung oddly alone on the wall. Their great-grandma claimed it to be a magic mirror, but to Tim until now, it had been just an odd family antique.
With intrigue glistening in his eyes, Tim dusted off the surface and was instantly bewitched by his own reflection. His room was visible in the mirror but oddly different. The posters were flipped in the mirror, objects appeared in reverse positions, and his reflection grinned back at him with a mischievous twinkle.
Suddenly, the room filled with sparkling glitter and as if seized by invisible hands, Tim was tugged towards the mirror. His heart pounded fast, but his adventurous spirit was high. He found himself leaning closer and closer until he felt a surreal pull into the mirror.
In the blink of an eye, young Tim was swept into a world that mirrored his own, yet was completely different. Here, he wasn't Tim anymore; in this reality, he was "Mit".
As Tim, now Mit, assessed this new environment within the mirror, he prepared himself for an extraordinary adventure. After all, this was what he had always dreamed of — a grand expedition, challenges, possibly even dragons, he thought aloud. But little did he know then, how close he was to the truth.
