The Wonder of Snowflakes
Little Squirrel lived in a warm, snug hollow inside the thick trunk of a towering old tree with his mother. It was a bright winter morning, the first sunbeams glistening across the blanket of snow that carpeted the forest floor. Little Squirrel, his curiosity as lively as ever, cautiously peeked outside.
His breath formed little puffs of clouds in the chilly air as he scampered into the sparkling snow, his eyes wide and brown, alight with excitement. All around, the vast forest buzzed with a winter glow; the pine trees adorned in frosty coats seemed to guard the secrets of the woods.
Little Squirrel darted through bushes and beyond tall trees, until she reached the edge of a radiant clearing where the frozen lake glistened like a gem tossed upon the Earth. There, under the big open sky, Little Squirrel saw them—snowflakes! Each one was special, like tiny lace made by magic. As they drifted gently to the ground, he wondered how they could all be so different and so beautiful.
