Hootsie's Wish

In a quiet corner of the dense woods, there lived a small brown owl named Hootsie. She blended so well with the tree bark that even when she stepped out from her little house inside a tree, she remained nearly invisible.

One bright day, while perched on a branch outside her home, Hootsie noticed a fox darting through the fresh green grass. The fox's bright red coat shone beautifully against the vibrant landscape. "Why is the fox so pretty, and I am just brownish-gray and unnoticed? I am not beautiful," Hootsie thought sadly.

From that day on, a restless feeling grew within her. She couldn’t sleep, and she hardly ate. Her mind was filled with thoughts of other animals, bright and colorful, while her own feathers seemed so dull and hard to notice. "Consider the other birds," Hootsie mused to herself in the middle of the night. "Their feathers are so bright: red, blue, green, white. But look at me, I’m just brown like faded leaves."

By morning, she had had enough. "I’ll travel the lands and ask every beautiful animal to share some of their beauty with me, and before the sun sets today, I’ll be the prettiest bird in this forest," Hootsie resolved.

With determination, the owl leaped from her branch, spread her majestic strong wings, and set off on a new adventure, ready to embrace a colorful life.
