Morning News

In the heart of the forest, a completely usual day had just dawned. A hedgehog poked his nose out of his cozy burrow, sniffing the air with delight. A beaver dragged a damp log toward his dam. Work came first, as usual. High above, a squirrel peeked from her tree hollow.

“Morning, friends! Any news?”

The hedgehog was just about to reply that it seemed nothing unusual had happened when their friend, an anxious young bird, fluttered down.

“I need a house, a house for my wife! She’s going to lay eggs soon, but I... I have no idea how to build it!”

The hedgehog puffed up. “Don’t worry!”

“We’ll help you!” added the squirrel cheerfully.

The day was already looking far from ordinary.

The beaver thumped his tail. “We’ll build it together!”

Without another thought, they each raced off to help, each with a very different idea of what a good home should be.
